Murchison Falls, located in northern Uganda, is the country’s largest conservation area, with 3840 acres. Murchison Falls National Park has a variety of vegetation types, including swamps, tropical rainforests of Budongo, Savannah woodland, and grassland, which are home to a variety of wildlife such as chimpanzees in Budongo forest, lions, hyenas, buffaloes, leopards, hippos, crocodiles, the rare shoebill stock, small primates, and other savannah, marine, and forest species. Day-by-Day Tour Summary
Day 1: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park via Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary and top of the falls.
Your guide of the day will meet you at your accommodation for a briefing on your three-day Murchison Falls safari overview before driving you 4-5 hours to Murchison Falls National Park. The trek will lead you to the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you may monitor both white and black rhinos. Rhinos were hunted near extinction in the 1970s, but the government and various non-governmental organizations are working to restore their numbers. From the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, you will travel to Masindi for lunch before continuing to Murchison Falls National Park, where you will climb the falls’ peak. It will be evening, so you will transfer to your overnight accommodations.
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise to the base of the falls.
Following breakfast, you will take the boat to the northern portion of Murchison Falls National Park for an early morning wildlife drive. This northern section of Murchison Falls National Park, known as Paraa, is teeming with wildlife, including lions, buffaloes, elephants, numerous antelopes, leopards, and much more. The delta region is also home to a large number of aquatic creatures, including hippos, crocodiles, and the endangered shoebill population. At Murchison Falls National Park, nature provides such that wild animals feed and roam organically; seeing any animal will rely on your luck of the day.
Following that, you will travel back to your accommodation for lunch before embarking on an afternoon boat tour to the foot of the falls. This boat tour to the foot of the falls is regarded as the pinnacle of all activities at Murchison Falls National Park since it allows visitors to witness a variety of water and land creatures. Expect to encounter buffalo, elephants, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds as you sail upstream to the base of the falls, where water squeezes itself into a tiny valley before exploding as it goes down the falls. Return to the lodge to stay overnight.
Day 3: Drive back to Kampala/Entebbe for your departure flight.
After breakfast, you will travel back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight out.
